SwitchBot AI Hub

Smart Home Automation, Local AI Hub, NVR / Camera Security, Matter Bridge, Home Assistant, RTSP Camera Hub, OpenClaw Home Agent

Overview

The SwitchBot AI Hub is a Matter-compatible smart home hub that pairs a 6 TOPS Vision Language Model with a local Frigate-based NVR to become the world's first local Home AI Agent with OpenClaw support. It uses connected cameras as its eyes and smart devices as its hands, understanding what's happening in the home and proactively managing daily tasks and security entirely on-device. With dual-band Wi-Fi, a Matter bridge for up to 30 SwitchBot sub-devices, direct control of 100+ SwitchBot devices, and a pre-installed Home Assistant Core container, it positions itself as the central brain of a SwitchBot-centric smart home. The hub itself has no microphone or camera, relying on your existing cameras for AI vision, and launched in early 2026.

Key Highlights

  • World's first local Home AI Agent with OpenClaw support — a built-in Vision Language Model (VLM, 6 TOPS NPU) uses connected cameras as eyes and smart devices as hands, with face recognition, pet detection, object classification, keyword AI search, and natural-language event summaries (Home AI Agent subscription $4.99/month after 1-month free trial)
  • NVR-level security hub: full Frigate AI support and RTSP compatibility for up to 8 cameras — SwitchBot Pan/Tilt Cam Plus 2K/3K, Video Doorbell, or any third-party RTSP camera — with local, private video analysis
  • True local edge hub: automations run on-device for up to 4× faster response and keep working during internet outages
  • Matter bridge for up to 30 SwitchBot sub-devices plus direct control of 100+ SwitchBot devices, with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings support
  • Built-in Home Assistant Core container (no dongle required), backed by 8GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, microSD expansion to 1TB, and USB drives/HDD up to 16TB
