Causes
- Running Hyper Mode or maximum cooling — this is the number one cause — The 2S Pro's 5000mAh battery is the same capacity as the COOLiFY 2S, and TORRAS's own runtime chart shows what that buys you: 28h in lowest Fan mode but only about 5h / 4h / 3.5h in cooling modes C1/C2/C3, and far less in the new Hyper Mode (Instant Chill Full), which pushes both semiconductor plates and all four air channels at 3.0 m/s. Tech Advisor measured roughly two hours at full cooling (and only 90 minutes on a medium setting in a 33°C outdoor test), and Accgo's review likewise warns that "maximum cooling settings reduce battery life noticeably." If you leave the collar in Hyper Mode or Cool level 3 all day, a fast drain is physics, not a fault.
- Heat mode at high levels drains almost as fast as max cooling — In winter use, Heating levels H1/H2/H3 run the same 5000mAh battery down in about 6h / 5h / 4h. The heating plates draw continuous current the whole time you wear it, so a "battery dies in a few hours" report in cold weather usually just means the Heat level is too high for the runtime you expected.
- Play-while-charging with a weak charger can't keep up — The 2S Pro supports play-while-charging through its USB-C port (the included L-shaped cable is designed for this). With the 20W charger it charges at up to 20W and can hold its own while running. But plugged into a laptop USB port, an old 5W phone charger, or a power bank that negotiates only 5V/1A, the collar can consume more than it receives at high cooling settings — the battery percentage still drops while "charging," which owners misread as a dead battery or a charging fault.
- The battery gauge drifts after repeated deep discharges — Draining the collar to 0% until it auto-shuts-off, then leaving it dead for days, confuses the fuel-gauge chip. The percentage then falls fast early, or the display jumps from a high number to a low one mid-session, making a healthy battery look like it is draining abnormally.
- Auto Mode and the NTC sensor keeping the cooling loop active — In Auto Mode the collar continuously polls the NTC temperature sensor and re-triggers cooling as soon as your skin warms back up. That stop-start cycling draws more power than a steady low manual level, and on a hot day the cooling plates end up running almost continuously even at a modest displayed level.
How to Fix
- Match the mode to the runtime you actually need — Check the smart LED display and set the collar deliberately: Fan mode (green) gives 11–28h, Cool C1 (blue, lowest cooling) gives ~5h, C2 ~4h, C3 ~3.5h, and Hyper Mode (Instant Chill Full) roughly 2h or less. If you need all-day runtime, run Fan or Cool level 1 and only punch into Hyper Mode in short bursts when you really need the instant chill — that single habit fixes the vast majority of "battery dies too fast" complaints.
- Use the app's stepless control instead of the max button — In the TORRAS app you can set cooling intensity 0–100 instead of jumping straight to the highest level. Dialing it to 40–60% instead of 100% roughly doubles the runtime versus max cooling with a modest difference in perceived chill. Set a timer in the app (30/60/90 min) if you tend to fall asleep or forget to switch it off.
- Use the included 20W charger (or better) for play-while-charging — Plug the L-shaped USB-C cable into a 20W+ USB-C PD adapter (or a power bank that supports 20W output) if you want to wear the collar while it charges. A 5W or 10W source cannot keep up at high cooling and the battery will still fall. If the battery drains while plugged into a laptop port, that is the charger's fault, not the collar's.
- Recalibrate the battery gauge — Run the collar until it shuts itself off at 0% (do not force it off earlier), then charge it uninterrupted to 100% with the 20W charger until the display shows full. Repeat once if the percentage still looks jumpy. This re-syncs the fuel gauge so the displayed percentage matches the real charge.
- Prefer manual Cool level over Auto Mode for longer sessions — If battery life matters more than automatic regulation, set a manual Cool level (C1 or C2) instead of Auto Mode. Manual levels hold a steady power draw; Auto Mode keeps waking the cooling loop as the NTC sensor reads your skin temperature rising, which burns more power over a long session.
- Rule out a genuinely faulty cell before giving up — If the collar still dies in under an hour on Cool level 1 with a full charge, or the display drops from 50% to 0% within minutes, the battery or its management board is defective.
