How to Fix the Tile Pro Not Ringing or Making No Sound

💻 Device: Tile Pro (2024) 🗓 Added

Causes

  • You're out of Bluetooth range — the Pro (2024) rings through a direct Bluetooth link to your phone, not through the cloud, so you must be within roughly 122 m (400 ft) of the tile for the ring command to reach it. Beyond that range, pressing Find silently fails and the app eventually reports the tile as "not found."
  • Your phone is on Silent or Do Not Disturb — if the phone's ringer or media volume is muted, the app can't produce sound to send to the tile, and the ring simply never plays. Do Not Disturb and Focus modes can also stop the app triggering the ring.
  • The ring volume is muted or the speaker is blocked — the Pro's piezo speaker has small openings on the case. A tight keychain crossing the speaker holes, a silicone holder covering them, dirt in the slots, or the tile pressed speaker-down in a bag massively muffles that 140 dB ring until it's barely audible.
  • Bluetooth disconnected or the app lost the link — a tile that dropped its Bluetooth connection (phone restart, Bluetooth toggled, app force-closed) won't ring until it reconnects. Battery-saving modes that suspend the Tile app in the background also prevent the ring command from being delivered.
  • The battery is too low to drive the ringer — the speaker is the most power-hungry part of the Pro. As the sealed 5-year battery weakens, the ring becomes quieter and shorter before finally stopping, while the tile may still update location for a while longer.

How to Fix

  1. Move back into range and reconnect — walk back toward where you last had the tile until you're within Bluetooth range. With the Tile app open, the Pro should reconnect automatically; if not, force-close and reopen the app to re-establish the link, then try Find again.
  2. Un-mute your phone and raise the volume — turn off Silent / Do Not Disturb and raise the ringer and media volume with the side buttons. On both iOS and Android, confirm the Tile app isn't blocked from sound under notifications or from background activity under battery settings. Play a quick ring to confirm the command actually fires.
  3. Check the ring volume setting inside the app — open the Pro's detail page, tap the Find/Ring control repeatedly, and make sure the ring volume slider (in the tile's settings) isn't at minimum. The Pro's ring volume is adjustable, so an earlier muted setting will persist until you raise it.
  4. Unblock the speaker openings and free the tile — take the Pro out of any tight holder or keychain position, brush any dirt out of the speaker slots, and hold the tile in open air (not pressed against your palm or a surface) while pressing Find. If it rings loud when free but quiet when mounted, reposition the holder away from the speaker holes.
  5. Reboot your phone and re-pair if the ring still fails — restart the phone to rebuild the Bluetooth stack, then if the tile still won't ring while within a metre, remove and re-add the tile (tap the tile → settings → Remove this Tile, then press the button and pair again). A stale connection is a common cause of a silent Find command.
  6. Rule out a dying battery — if the ring is noticeably quieter than it used to be and the app shows a low-battery alert, the sealed battery is fading. The Pro's battery can't be replaced at home, so plan a replacement under warranty (under 1 year) or via Tile's Renew program at tile.com/renew once the ring becomes unusable.
