Causes

  2. Recalibrate in Android's controller settings — go to Settings → Controller Calibration (or the calibration option in the Retroid Launcher), select the drifting stick, and follow the on-screen prompts to trace its full range. This re-centers the sensor and clears most software-side drift on the RP5 — many owners report an instant fix that survives a reboot.
  3. Run GPcal for a deep calibration — install the GPcal tool (github.com/cdeletre/GPcal) into the PortMaster ports directory and launch it from the Ports list. Use the D-pad to pick the drifting stick, press A to calibrate, and follow the prompts; press B to cancel a run, and use Reset to clear bad calibration data. Note that parameters reset on reboot, so run the saved script it writes to HOME on each boot (or re-run the calibration) to keep the fix permanent.
  4. Remove the cap, clean the stem, and reseat it — power the device off, hook a fingernail or a plastic spudger under the seam of the stick cap, and pull straight up (never twist — twisting can bend the pins below).
