How to Fix the Levoit Superior 6000S Not Connecting to the VeSync App

💻 Device: Levoit Superior 6000S Smart Evaporative Humidifier 🗓 Added

Causes

  • Bluetooth is off or already paired to another device — The Superior 6000S is added to the VeSync app over Bluetooth during setup, then handed off to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. If your phone's Bluetooth is disabled, or it's actively connected to headphones, a smartwatch, or another Bluetooth accessory, the app can't complete the pairing handshake with the humidifier. This is the first item in the manual's VeSync troubleshooting section.
  • Your phone is on a 5GHz Wi-Fi band — The 6000S only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. If your phone is connected to a 5GHz network (or your router uses band steering and keeps switching the phone to 5GHz), the humidifier and phone end up on different networks, and setup fails or the device shows offline right after pairing.
  • Missing location or local-network permissions in the app — VeSync needs location permission (used to scan for nearby devices) and local-network access on iOS/Android. If these were denied when the app first asked, the app can't see the humidifier during setup even though both devices are on the same network.
  • Router AP isolation or firewall blocking the device — On guest networks and some routers with "AP/client isolation" enabled, devices can't talk to each other even on the same Wi-Fi, so the humidifier pairs but immediately drops to offline in the app. A VPN active on your phone can cause the same symptom.
  • Outdated VeSync app or humidifier firmware — Older app versions and early 6000S firmware builds have known connectivity quirks; Levoit has pushed firmware updates for the 6000S since launch, and owners have reported that updating the app and the device firmware fixed pairing and offline issues.

How to Fix

  1. Turn on Bluetooth and disconnect other Bluetooth devices — Enable Bluetooth on your phone and disconnect any headphones, watch, or other accessories (or move out of range of them). The manual explicitly states that the phone should not be connected to another Bluetooth device during setup.
  2. Connect your phone to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network — In your phone's Wi-Fi settings, join the 2.4GHz band of your router (networks often have different names for each band, e.g. "Home" vs "Home_5G"). If band steering is on, temporarily disable it in the router, or create a dedicated 2.4GHz network for smart-home devices. Verify the phone is actually on 2.4GHz before retrying setup.
  3. Grant the VeSync app the required permissions — On iOS, go to Settings → VeSync and enable Bluetooth and Local Network; on Android, grant Location (while using the app) and Nearby Devices permissions, and disable battery optimization for VeSync. Then close and reopen the app and retry adding the device.
  4. Power-cycle the humidifier and retry pairing — Unplug the 6000S for about 10 seconds, plug it back in, and make sure it's in pairing mode (the display will show the Wi-Fi icon prompting setup). Restart the VeSync app, tap "+" → add device, and follow the in-app prompts. Keep the phone within a few feet of the unit during pairing.
  5. Update the app and the humidifier's firmware — Update VeSync from the App Store/Google Play. If the device is already listed in the app, open its settings and install any pending firmware update; if it shows offline, power-cycle the unit, open the device page, and try the update again once it reconnects.
  6. Check the router for isolation and firewall settings — Log into your router and make sure client/AP isolation is disabled on the 2.4GHz network, the 2.4GHz SSID is broadcasting (not hidden), and the network uses WPA2 or WPA3 security. Avoid a captive-portal or enterprise network, which the humidifier can't join. Disable any VPN on your phone during setup.
  7. Remove the device from the app and add it fresh — In VeSync, delete the humidifier from your device list, put the unit back into pairing mode (press and hold the Wi-Fi/pairing control until the Wi-Fi icon flashes), and add it again from scratch. If it still won't connect after a fresh add, contact Levoit support at [email protected] or (888) 726-8520 — Wi-Fi module faults are covered under the 2-year warranty.
