Causes
- Physical touch switch on the display is off — The Kamvas Pro 19/27 series has a sliding touch switch on the side of the unit. Huion's official article for the Kamvas Pro 27 states the switch must be slid to the right to enable finger touch and to the left to disable it. It's easy to bump the switch when repositioning the 27-inch unit on a stand or VESA arm, leaving touch silently disabled.
- Touch disabled in the Huion driver — Even with the switch on, touch must be enabled inside the driver: under "Device Touch Settings" you need to click the "Enable Touch" button. A fresh driver install defaults touch to disabled on some versions, and updating the driver can reset this setting.
- Outdated firmware — Huion's Kamvas Pro 27 (GT2701) touch support on macOS requires firmware M221_240708 or newer (the GT2702 144Hz model ships with its own firmware line). Older firmware has touch bugs, especially with macOS touch support, and the fix is a firmware update from the Huion download center.
- macOS 14.5+ on Mac mini / Mac Studio / iMac without built-in touch hardware — Huion's article documents that after updating to macOS 14.5 or later, these Macs can fail to enable touch because the system lacks built-in touch-related hardware. The official workaround is loading the LoadTrackPad2 tool included in the driver installation package — without it, the "Enable Touch" action silently does nothing.
- Driver state left corrupted after an update or uninstall — Touch is implemented through the Huion driver stack, and a half-broken install (leftover old driver files, conflicting tablet drivers) can make the touch layer fail while the pen still works — the pen and touch use separate code paths, so the pen working does not mean touch is healthy.
How to Fix
- Slide the physical touch switch to the right — Locate the touch switch on the side of the Kamvas Pro 27 and slide it fully to the right (enable position). Test with a finger on the screen — a touch cursor or UI response confirms the switch was the issue.
- Install the latest driver from the Huion download center — Go to huion.com/download, select Kamvas Pro 27 (144Hz), and download the latest driver for your OS. Fully uninstall any previous Huion driver first (use the official uninstaller, reboot, and close all drawing apps and antivirus before installing), then install the new driver and reboot.
- Enable touch in the driver — Open the Huion driver, go to "Device Touch Settings", and click the "Enable Touch" button. Confirm the touch switch is still in the right (on) position, then test finger input.
- Update the display firmware — From the Huion download center, grab the latest firmware for the Kamvas Pro 27 (144Hz) and follow the update instructions (keep the display powered and connected during the update). On macOS, verify your firmware is at least the version Huion lists as the touch-support minimum for the Kamvas Pro 27 line.
- On macOS 14.5+ Macs, load the LoadTrackPad2 tool — If you're on a Mac mini, Mac Studio, or iMac updated to macOS 14.5 or later: locate the LoadTrackPad2.zip file inside the driver installation package, extract the LoadTrackPad2 tool, drag it into the Applications folder, open it, and click "Load" when the pop-up appears. When you see "Trackpad" in System Settings, the activation succeeded and touch should work.
- Run the touch reset cycle — If touch still doesn't respond: in the driver click "Disable Touch", slide the touch switch to the left (off), restart the computer, slide the switch back to the right (on), then open the driver and click "Enable Touch". This clears the driver's stale touch state and is Huion's documented last-resort step for the Kamvas Pro 19/27.
- Check for screen surface issues — Clean the nano-etched Canvas Glass 3.0 with a dry microfiber cloth — a greasy or scratched surface can deaden capacitive touch in patches. If only one region of the screen ignores fingers, the touch sensor layer may be damaged; note the exact area for support.
- Contact Huion support if touch still fails — Email [email protected] with your serial number (S/N on the back), order number, OS version, driver version, and a short video showing the touch switch position, the driver's touch settings, and the non-responsive touch. If firmware is current and the reset cycle didn't help, the touch module is a hardware fault covered by warranty.
