Causes
- Video cable plugged into the motherboard instead of the discrete GPU — The Kamvas Pro 27 (144Hz) pushes a 4K signal, and on desktop PCs with a dedicated graphics card the HDMI 2.1 / DisplayPort 1.4 cable must go into the GPU's ports, not the motherboard's. Huion's no-signal guide states this explicitly — the motherboard ports route through the iGPU and typically output nothing when a discrete GPU is installed.
- 4K @ 144Hz exceeds the bandwidth of the port or cable in use — Full 4K 144Hz needs HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC-capable hardware. An HDMI 1.4 port, a plain USB-C port without DisplayPort Alt Mode, or a cable not certified for the bandwidth will fail to sync — the panel shows "NO SIGNAL" or "NO CABLE" even though everything appears plugged in.
- USB-C connection to a non-full-featured port — The 27's USB-C port requires the host port to support both video (DisplayPort Alt Mode) and data. Huion's guides warn that charge-only or data-only USB-C ports will not drive the display — the pen display needs a full-featured USB-C port (look for the DP logo next to the port) to work over USB-C.
- Loose, damaged, or low-quality cables plus insufficient power — A partially seated HDMI/DP/USB-C cable, a damaged cable, or a hub/adapter in the chain causes intermittent black screens. The 27-inch panel also needs a stable power feed — if the indicator doesn't light at all, the power cable or wall source is the problem, and power-saving USB settings can cut the data link on laptops.
- Display mode set to "PC screen only" / graphics driver glitch — If Windows is set to show output only on the main monitor (Win+P → "PC screen only"), the Kamvas Pro 27 receives no video stream and reports no signal even though it's powered and connected. A corrupt or outdated GPU driver produces the same symptom after updates.
How to Fix
- Check the power state first — Press the power button and watch the indicator: if it doesn't light up, inspect the power cable and outlet. For the Kamvas Pro 27 (144Hz), confirm the DC power supply is fully seated and the unit isn't relying on bus power alone, which cannot drive a 27-inch panel.
- Connect the video cable directly to the discrete GPU — On a desktop, plug the HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4 cable into the dedicated graphics card's ports (the horizontal ports lower down on the case, not the vertical motherboard cluster). If your GPU only has DisplayPort, use a certified DP 1.4 cable or a DP-to-HDMI 2.1 adapter rated for 4K 144Hz.
- Unplug and re-seat all cables, then power-cycle — Firmly re-seat the video cable at both ends and the USB data cable, then turn the display off and on (some connections don't hot-swap cleanly). If you're using a dock or HDMI switch, remove it from the chain and connect directly — adapters are a common source of "NO CABLE" errors on 4K panels.
- Verify USB-C requirements if using the USB-C input — Confirm the computer's USB-C port is full-featured (supports DisplayPort Alt Mode + USB 3.x data — check for the DP logo or your laptop's spec sheet). The Kamvas Pro 27's USB-C port also needs the bundled full-featured USB-C cable; a charge-only cable will not carry video. If unsure, use HDMI or DP instead.
- Set the display mode to Duplicate or Extend — Press Windows logo key + P and select "Duplicate" or "Extend" (never "PC screen only"). On macOS, open System Settings → Displays and confirm the Kamvas Pro 27 is detected; if not, check the cable connection and try the other video input.
- Update or reinstall the graphics driver — Open Device Manager → Display adapters, right-click the GPU, and choose Update driver (or download the latest driver from NVIDIA/AMD/Intel). A fresh GPU driver re-establishes the display topology and fixes no-signal states caused by driver corruption after OS updates.
- Reset the display via the OSD — Long-press the OSD buttons to open the on-screen menu (on Kamvas Pro models, hold the menu/scroll key), navigate to Other → Reset, and confirm. This clears any stuck input-selection or display-board state that can leave the panel in a no-signal loop.
- Test on another computer and contact Huion if needed — Connect the Kamvas Pro 27 to a second computer (or a different GPU port) to isolate whether the fault is the PC, the cable, or the display. If it works on another machine, the original port/cable/driver was the culprit; if it's dead on every input, contact [email protected] with your S/N (back of the unit), order number, and a video of the cable connections and screen — defective video input boards are replaced under warranty.
