Causes
- UMA Frame Buffer (UMA FB) allocation set too low in the BIOS, capping the shared VRAM at 64GB or lower instead of the full 96GB available
- Outdated BIOS firmware on the GMKtec EVO-X3 that does not expose the full VRAM allocation options for the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU
- Windows displaying only half the VRAM because the GPU driver has not been properly configured for large BAR (Base Address Register) or resizable BAR is disabled
- AMD Adrenalin software power profile limiting shared memory to conserve system RAM for other applications
How to Fix
- Restart the EVO-X3 and press Del or F2 repeatedly during startup to enter the UEFI BIOS menu.
- Navigate to Advanced → AMD CBS → NBIO Common Options → GFX Configuration.
- Locate UMA Frame Buffer Size — this controls how much system RAM is allocated as shared VRAM for the Radeon 8060S GPU.
- Set the UMA FB size to 96GB (or 98304MB) to make the maximum shared VRAM available. The exact option label may read "Auto", "64GB", or "96GB" depending on your BIOS version.
- Save changes with F10 and boot back into Windows.
- Download and install the latest AMD Adrenalin driver from the GMKtec support page or AMD.com, selecting the "Full Install" option to ensure the Radeon driver suite includes the proper VRAM management module.
- Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition → Performance → Tuning and confirm that "VRAM" or "Dedicated GPU Memory" shows the expected allocation. You can also verify in Task Manager under the Performance tab → GPU.
- If the VRAM still appears capped, download the latest BIOS from the official GMKtec EVO-X3 product page and flash it via the included EFI update utility to unlock the full allocation options.
